Ann's cousin came this afternoon

Much rain in the night fine morning but dullish at 8 and now at 9 and Fahrenheit 40 read a few pages Ann came for me to breakfast at 9 20/60 and we sat from then to 10

Afterwards out about the whole day - came in to Ann at luncheon - before 1 and Mr. Jubb came and staid near 1/2 hour - lanced Ann's face which did not seem to do it much good - he agreed with me she ought to go from home if possible - thinks Mrs. Ann Walker as well as can be expected at 83 - said I thought of going away a little about the middle of January

Ann rode the older pony to Cliff hill, about 3 or after and back about 5 1/2 or nearer 6

Mrs. Sowden sent me this afternoon by her youngest son, some trout and one or 2 gold fish taken from out of their little combing pond now dried - sent Robert Mann with the boy, young man?, down to the meer - met the boy returning home as I was returning from Little Engine Pit and asked him to bring his mother to see the meer &c. &c. next summer at which he seemed much pleased

Edward Waddington and James Sharpe and Abraham Murgatroyd, Booth's, men began splaying the corner of the front stable door this morning and Amos Ambler and John Sharpe walled old windows into hay shed and the rest were at the gateway - Parkinson's men finished the laundry court wall - Robert Mann + 6, Michael here, himself + 3 at clearing away for road walling - 2 at garden drains and Michael driving one of my carts

While dressing for dinner wrote (and sent by John Booth) note to 'Mr. Duncan woollen draper &c. &c. Halifax' counter-manding the order given to Mr. Jackson to keep as much of the cloth of George the groom's suit as would make 1 dress and 1 undress suit for a footman

Dinner at 7 5/60 coffee at 8 - Ann read French her usual 2 pages - and afterwards read me a little of the newspaper and I read a little - having read from page 251 to 344 end of volume first 'Portugal and Gallicia, with a review of the social and political state of the Basque Provinces: and a few remarks on Recent Events in Spain. In 2 volumes volume 1 London John Murray, Albemarle Street 1736' Volume 1 pages 344 volume 2 pages 463 'London printed by W. Clowes and sons, Stamford Street.'

Came upstairs at 10 20/60 at which hour Fahrenheit 34 fine day
