No kiss

Ready in 50 minutes very rainy windy morning Fahrenheit 55 at 9 1/4 a.m.

The 1st. time of writing using this blue ink – to be black hereafter. Its recommendation is that it is never to turn thick like all the inks we have hitherto known

Breakfast at 9 20/60 in an hour Ann did her French at my desk at 10 20/60 from then to 11 40/60 read from page 334 to 359 the greater part of the admirable article the Quarterly Review of the month, on Professor Drumann’s of Könnigsburg, Genealogical History of Rome

Fair about 11 – Mr Husband came about then with the 2 York joiners to pull down livery employed in my uncle’s room to see the way before them the better when Mr Harper called – stood over sometime then out nobody here this morning but Samuel Booth and Jack Green who finished sinking for cellar in the phaeton house

Sauntered about went to Mytholm at 1 to ask if Aquilla Green could spare the Mytholm day boy for Jonathan Mallinson – Yes! 10 minutes with Aquilla Green’s wife then returned

Had met Sam Booth and John Green going to the hall, the former sunk and got stuff out of the new saddle room and the latter dug away and prepared for Amos to underfoot the present saddle room that is to be the brewhouse – no mason here this morning and only Amos this afternoon – found John Frier coming at 1 1/4 sent him back not seeing Wood come but soon afterwards found Wood and Richard at the pool puddling

Walked with Ann at 2 to the Conery – left her with Matty, and staid at the pool all the afternoon till 6 1/4 – Wood and Richard and from about before 5 had Jack Green to help us set the 3 mare-stones soft sand-stones, at the west end of the water-stone and set the tall stone so that the tall stone up against the lowpool - broad stone and the great mare stone up against the tall stone, so that the upper pool draws near to a finish – got on very well – much better than I expected.

Saw Ann’s note to Messrs Parker and Adam – dinner at 6 3/4 Ann sent by Frank her note to Parker and Adam with plan of Hipperholme quarry for Mrs Wadsworth

Dinner at 6 3/4 – coffee sat talking till 9 – then wrote the last 11 lines of today.

Letter this evening from Lady Stuart but will not open it till tomorrow when I hope to answer it from the spur of the moment

Robert Schofield and Joseph Sharpe not here today

With the aunt 10 minutes till 10, then sat (Ann sewing by me) till 11 10/60 reading the newspaper

Rainy windy wild morning – fair about 11 but still wild and windy – fair from about 11 for the rest of the day excluding occasionally a few drizzle – calmer towards evening and fair and Fahrenheit 47 at 11 1/4 p.m.
