Fine morning Fahrenheit 66 1/4 at 9 Ann came to me at 8 and finding me quite undressed I got into bed again for the 1/2 hour she staid - the hair dresser came at 8 35/60 instead of 8 - Ann think that perhaps my French plate went like the dozen of English silver forks and like the pelerine I had of Mrs. Barlow &c. &c. viz per Mademoiselle Eugenie Pierre!

Carré, Coiffeur, at 9 10/60 for 40 minutes doing me Ann and Oddy each taking a lesson - breakfast at 9 50/60 - breakfast and reading yesterday's paper and looking near till 12 then till 1 1/2 at accounts - then Passport from Mr. Okey signed at on one Embassy but no other

Ann and I went out, à pied, at 1 35/60 - sauntered to Madame Figarol's to see along the rue Duphot - told tinner there to come for the footpan's at 8 a.m. tomorrow and got curd from ye Crémier-glacier rue Duphot no. 8. milk -/80 le litre - black silk shawls - mine should be trimmed said the demoiselle with dentelle at 13/- to 17 francs l'aune - would take 6 aunes at least - Madame Figarol forgot to tell the femme de chambre to come last night - begged her not to forget tonight - then sauntered along the boulevards to Madame Contant rue neuve des Augustins, no. 28 - the silk, six quarts, for me belle qualité would be 54 francs and would take 9 aunes of Dentelle perhaps at 6/- to 10/- l'aune = 54 + 60 = 114 francs and Ann's would be about not quite so much - then came 2 ladies and a gentleman the 2 ladies speaking queer sort of French and staid 1/2 hour or more about pelerines without buying anything and meaning to come again tomorrow Ann and I sat as lookers on, making up our own minds as to what we liked and soon afterwards chose each a pelerine Ann's at 40/- sans dentelle and mine at 70 sans dentelle - her lace to be 6/- or 7/- and mine 11/- l'aune - then remained in consequence of the rain till long after 3

Then walked homewards thro' the marché St, Honoré - took shelter - got to the arcades - sauntered in the passage de l'Anne - came in at 5 1/4 - very few and short gleams from about 2 to after 5 - for the last month, said Perrelet on Monday they have not two fair days - rain rain rain always rain

Wrote the last 15 lines till 6 - Said Madame is making a shawl for Lady Poore who is at Meurice's has been there about 8 days - looking out for a house here for 3 months on account of the health of Sir Edward Lady Neil came in to Madame Contant while we were - a good humoured looking person - á pied comme nous - saw this morning in the rue de la Ferme des Mathurins very nice pretty shell-covered boite à thé at 25/- or 27/- I forget which - and very handsome caves à liqueurs at 240/

Then till 7 looking over Livre de poste and thinking of an route - the sooner we are off the better then asleep a few minutes - then in the kitchen trying to warm a slice of our yesterdays roast mutton dinner at 7 1/4 - on rice milk that Oddy had prepared and cold roast mutton and potatoes à la maitre d'hotel and fromage de Hollande - wine from my own cellar Rue St. Victor - sent George for newspaper to Galignanis about 8 1/2 - not back till 10 1/4

Talking to Ann or asleep with her on the sofa till 10 - with her about hour till 11 1/2 - tolerably fine but rain then at 8 dry till the rain at 2 - very showery afternoon - finish in the evening after dinner Fahrenheit 66 now at 11 1/2 p.m.
